Baby News and Gender Neutral Nursery
We have a
beautiful baby who is gorgeous little person, an absolute joy to watch. But
time if very scarce now and my blog was neglected for very long.
This is our
gender neutral nursery. Our theme - Monkeys and Giraffes. Colour scheme -
white, burned orange and olive.
We are renting while our house extension is in progress – can not paint or make any permanent changes. So wall decals are our solution. Decals are custom made by Etsy's PinkBlueBaby. We redesigned it from their standard design to our likings, colour, and size to fit our room. I painted furniture and mum-to-be made baby blankets and towels.
An old family photos display using old painted frames. Also framed the butterfly that did not made it through our wedding butterfly release. So is now pinned up on a wall for as a memory. Will fill empty frame with baby's first flowers.

Dulux EnviroWash ES 160 (160liters) unit for hire
Ol’ Painting now offers the Dulux EnviroWash ES 160 (160liters) system for hire - the only place in Sydney that hires it. We are painters, not a hire company. But we have few units and usually at least one is available. So we are happy to share it. Contact us to confirm availability.
Many homeowners and businesses are very environmentally aware. Clients often request painters to use an EnviroWash on their project. Many DIY renovators want to use it in their projects. This is a great and important trend. But the EnviroWash is an expensive equipment and out of reach for many painters, not to mention once off use for most of homeowners who doing painting themselves. Many painters want to try it before committing to spend money buying one.

National Treasure. Project of the month - August
The best thing about our work is that we get to meet some incredible people and learn some fascinating stories. But this is perhaps the best of all!
We did some project for a lovely family. As we helped them to move furniture to a new place the lady told us a story of her grandad. On 9 July 1900 on his property in UK and in this very chair was signed the Commonwealth of Australian Constitution Act! This it a true national treasure!!!
Most of furniture and the table a family donated to museums. But they kept this chair. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story tomorrow!

Ol’Painting in NRMA motorcycle campaign
Our manager Oleksandra with 4 other bikers went yesterday on the photo-shoot for the new NRMA motorcycle safety campaign by a talented photographer Dan Luke.
It’s freezing, windy and very wet in Sydney. The shoot took place in the Royal National Park - a long way from home and work. Oleksandra showed up back to the office late afternoon soaking wet, cold, and exhausted. Hope her effort will help to make roads safer for a motorbike riders!

My great friends on Chanel 9 Design Show
I wrote about this audition to the new Chanel 9 Design Show "From the Ground Up" back in March. Guess what?!My very-very dear friends Kon & Tamryn got selected for the show!!! The challenge massive - they have just 8 weeks to build a house from scratch! Show starts filming today and will go on screen in September. I'm upset we would not nave a chance to vote for them – the competition is for the largest final value of the building, not for the viewers favourite.
God luck guys! Make us proud!

Flying high!
What an amazing weekend we had! Our team & few friends went skydiving with Skydive the Beach at Wollongong. There is not better team building exercise! It was my 13th jump, a 2nd jump for our manager Oleksandra, and the 1st for Dmitry and everyone else.
We jumped at 3500m high - the highest skydive in Australia. You have 60 sec of a free fall and another 5 minutes of a calm descent after the parachute opened. You fly over the gorgeous shoreline, beaches & cliffs of the South Coast!

"Kilimanjaro for Ovarian Cancer Cure" completed
We just returned from the expedition, still exhausted. We both made it to the top (just!). Honestly, if it was not for the charity and we did not get supprt of so many people we would quit few hundred meters before the summit. (I know it sounds like a cliché, but it is very much try!) The air is just so thin here! But our pain and tidiness will pass. We are so happy we made to the summit. Thanks everyone for supporting our cause and giving us this extra motivation!
I’ll set up a slideshow to report back to all our sponsors & supporters. But in a meantime I’ll share with you some of my favourite pictures from the expedition.

Ol' Painting New Website
Ol’ Painting website received a funky makeover. We included lots of information about who we, what we do, some recent projects and testimonials. We created a page about our “Mt Kilimanjaro for Ovarian Cancer Cure” fundraised. Now it is easy to just refer to it when talking to publishers or supporters what exactly are we doing.Last few weeks were busy writing editorials and webpages about our fundraiser. It all has to be approved by the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation before we can use it. So we could not do much actually promoting our fundraiser. But hopefully everything will be finalised this week, so we can actually start working on raising funds.

Kt Kilimanjaro for Ovarian Cancer Cure
I don't normally talk much about, but 3 years ago my mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She lived just 9 more months. It’s hard to watch a person you love dying! I sincerely hope that none of me readers will go through the same loss!1 in 70 Australians women will develop ovarian cancer before the age of 85. Only 42% will survive after 5 years. So we decided to help to get this cure quicker!
In February 2010 our Ol’ Painting team – me and Oleksandra, will climb Mt Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research. At 5,896m (19,344ft), “Kili” is the highest pick in Africa and one of the world largest free-standing mountains. We promise to work our guts out, fight the weather, altitude sickness and anything else on our way to the top. In exchange we ask for your donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research!I’ll post updates on fundraising, planning and training this blog for our sponsors and friends to read. Wish us a good luck!
